We are facing unprecedented levels of need this Winter with families having to choose between eating, keeping warm or clothing their children. The ALMT is actively supporting five excellent organisations working with those most in need across the country:

London – London has the the highest child poverty rates in the country with more than 700,000 children living in poverty. Miracles: Feed London delivers six days worth of fresh food and supermarket vouchers st the start of the school holidays to families in the most desperate circumstances, many of whom have multiple needs.

Hull and East Riding – Approximately 30% of children in Hull live in poverty making it one of the most deprived areas in the UK. Hull Children’s University has set up a hardship fund to help the children most at risk this winter with a support package which is tailored to each individual’s situation.

SunderlandThorney Close Primary School has 49% of pupils eligible for Free School Meals – over double the national average. As every day costs are going up, families are struggling. This funding will pay for shoes and clothes for children as well as a school trip to the theatre in the New Year.

Manchester – More young people are at risk of homelessness in Manchester than anywhere else in the country outside London. Lifeshare is providing store cupboard basics, improving cooking skills and tackling digital exclusion for homeless young people in temporary accommodation across the city.

Rural Buckinghamshire – Rural poverty is often overlooked but it is a very real problem for so many. Restore Hope works closely with families in crisis who are struggling; providing food boxes and targeted support to help them get back on their feet. Funding will go towards the weekly foodlife programme and food at the Christmas celebration.
