What is Co-Funding?

Co-funding with the ALMT allows individuals, other Trusts and Foundations, and Companies to contribute funds directly to individual, vetted and approved, project partnerships. With fifteen years of experience awarding grants and working in partnership with children’s organisations around the world, the ALMT is best placed to support you in your philanthropy.

Starfish Greathearts Foundation exists to change the lives of children who have been made vulnerable or orphaned by HIV and poverty in South Africa. The charity invests in the future of over 12,000 children a year so that they can grow into happy and independent young adults.

Starfish has been instrumental in establishing a coalition of local community partners in order to facilitate a holistic response to the devastating consequences of HIV/AIDS on South Africa’s most vulnerable children. The ALMT is partnering with Starfish to help the charity roll out their Wellness Programme. Our support is making it possible for the charity to implement their newest healthcare initiative the Wellness Wagon, a mobile health clinic offering its services to the Kwa-Zulu Natal region.

The Wellness Wagon aims to mitigate the challenges to accessing health care, such as distance from nearest healthcare facility, inadequate staffing, poor medical resources and limited health care facilities in rural areas. The services the clinic provides include: General Screening – TB, eyesight, hearing and oral hygiene; Testing – HIV/diabetes, blood pressure; Preventative messaging – counselling on sexual health; The Wellness Wagon creates a means for children to receive basic healthcare which will inevitably save many lives.
