What is Co-Funding?

Co-funding with the ALMT allows individuals, other Trusts and Foundations, and Companies to contribute funds directly to individual, vetted and approved, project partnerships. With fifteen years of experience awarding grants and working in partnership with children’s organisations around the world, the ALMT is best placed to support you in your philanthropy.

Starfish’s Early Childhood Survival and Development (ECD) programme offers vulnerable children from 0-5 and their carers in poor rural communities and supports caregivers in their own homes from a central hub. It includes Community Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (C-IMCI) services, nutrition, cognitive development and growth monitoring and ensures all enrolled children and care givers have access to healthcare and the documents they need to obtain social grants, Road to Health cards etc.

Services are delivered in partnership with local community-based organisations (CBOs) to ensure sustainable change in the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children. This enables caregivers to support ECD in impoverished, remote rural communities in the Ufafa Valley, Kwal Zulu Natal, South Africa. Service delivery will include HIV/AIDS prevention; education, stimulation, and play; access to relevant Government Health Services (including medicines and vaccines) and Social Development services and food parcels, to nutritionally support children.

“Today, I hold my grandchild’s hand not just to cross the road but to guide them towards a brighter tomorrow. The ECD centre is a bridge from our past to a future filled with possibilities.”
