Chess in Schools aims to improve educational outcomes and social development through the world’s oldest game.
Co-funding with the ALMT allows individuals, other Trusts and Foundations, and Companies to contribute funds directly to individual, vetted and approved, project partnerships. With fifteen years of experience awarding grants and working in partnership with children’s organisations around the world, the ALMT is best placed to support you in your philanthropy.
Chess in Schools and Communities (CSC) identified a need which arose as a result of the success of the charity’s activities to date which have produced many gifted and talented players who lack the resources to compete with their peers from middle class backgrounds and private sector schools. This grant allows some of CSC’s best young chess players nationally to receive high quality chess coaching and take part in both team and individual tournaments during the 2014/15 academic year by funding their travel expenses or hosting costs when attending tournaments. As CSC schools are based in the most deprived areas of the country, many of their pupils cannot afford to pay for individual or even group coaching and take part in prestigious national competitions.
