What is Co-Funding?

Co-funding with the ALMT allows individuals, other Trusts and Foundations, and Companies to contribute funds directly to individual, vetted and approved, project partnerships. With fifteen years of experience awarding grants and working in partnership with children’s organisations around the world, the ALMT is best placed to support you in your philanthropy.

In January 2007 the ALMT made a grant to build Wahdat school in the Takhar Province, Northern Afghanistan. It has 300 pupils (50 boys and 250 girls) and, at the time, there were no other buildings so all children had to study outside. It was the coldest winter for 70 years so this was a crucial project to undertake. Afghan Connection runs projects in health and education. It has assisted several hospitals and clinics with provision of refurbishment, equipment, and medical training. It has funded salaries for an expatriate Obstetrician, Paediatrician, and nurse, who give training to medical staff in Afghanistan.

Afghan Connection has funded the construction of 15 schools and has provided equipment for over 20,000 children. It also runs a Twin School Project, funded by the European Union, and links 20 schools across the UK and Channel Islands with schools in Afghanistan. This smaller grant supported Wahdat school with equipment and supplies.
